When I first met with these two, I could tell that Chelsea was the perfect girl for Kyle as we all sipped coffee together in Lansing. She was fun-loving, kind, thoughtful, and she possessed a really incredible personality.

Have you ever met a couple who just radiates love and joy? That is what I see in Derek and Alexis. They are a constant beam of joy. In a world filled with darkness, they're love is a bright beacon! I met Derek and Alexis through a past bride whose wedding I photographed. I'm so glad they came to me and allowed me to photograph their wedding!
It was one of the hottest and most humid days of the year in Lansing, Michigan. It was over 90 degrees and the wedding ceremony was outside. Thankfully, when it was time for the ceremony, the sun was getting low in the sky, providing shade and cooling things down a bit. The wedding and reception were both held at Walnut Hills in East Lansing. This is a gorgeous venue with plenty of room both inside and out for laughing, dancing and making memories. The ceremony location was on a hillside beneath two large pine trees.
Everything was perfect on this day. The couple, the wedding party, the rings, the dress, the flowers... It all just came together for a beautiful celebration. It's fun to shoot weddings where I can tell that the friends and family are all extremely close with each other. Congratulations Alexis and Derek!
There are certain things that happen often which remind me how awesome my job is. And this wedding was one of those things. The love these two have for each other was so intentionally poured out into every part of the wedding day, from beginning to end! I admire their sense of style and humor! It was super lovely to work with them.
The combination of the dress, the jewelry, the flowers, and the chemistry between these two made this shoot one of the best I have been able to capture to this day. I am so thankful I was able to play a part in this!

This past wedding season I was creating photos at a wedding at Wellers Banquet Center in Ann Arbor, MI . The outdoor venue was breathtaking and the bride and groom were overflowing with love for each other. I asked myself what could make it a better wedding day, and I couldn't think of a single thing! It was perfect.
When the ceremony began, I quickly found the one thing that could make the day even better; and that one thing was a talented musician named Rodney Page.

Dressed in a tuxedo under a stone gazebo was a man playing a violin during the ceremony. The sounds that came from that instrument were unlike any I had ever heard. I could tell he was passionate about his music by the way he played his instrument. Everything went very well and the ceremony ended. I thought I had seen the last of this classy notemaker until after the family portraits were done when we headed inside for the reception. I walked over to the DJ's table only to see the same man setting up his equipment. I introduced myself and told him I loved his music. The rest of the night, I was blown away by how talented Rodney was. He had just the right songs at just the right volume and had just about every person there on their feet. He also plugged his electric violin in and played some incredible solos over songs you would hear on the radio! At the end of the night, he even performed a beatboxing rap song for the bride and groom. He is definitely the best beatboxer I have ever heard perform. His combination of great beats and a soaring violin line was something unlike anything I had experienced before.
Rodney was born in Tennessee but moved to Southfield, Michigan before the age of one. He began playing the violin at age 10 in the Southfield Public School District. After graduating from High School he attended Michigan State University and pursued a degree in Music Education. After graduating from MSU, he taught 5th and 6th Grade Strings in East Lansing Public Schools and then St. Johns Public Schools. While in St. Johns, he began using his DJ skills to raise money for the music department. He has performed for Sweet 16 parties, weddings, proms and other school dances and was even the DJ for the Detroit Pistons for one season! He is married and has two children named Bryson and Jayden. I hope by viewing some of the photos and videos below, you will share with me an appreciation of Rodney's passion and talent.

Kyle and Rachel have a special kind of love for each other that overflows out of them in every way. I think you will agree with me after viewing these photos from the most important day of their life!
