This past wedding season I was creating photos at a wedding at Wellers Banquet Center in Ann Arbor, MI . The outdoor venue was breathtaking and the bride and groom were overflowing with love for each other. I asked myself what could make it a better wedding day, and I couldn't think of a single thing! It was perfect.
When the ceremony began, I quickly found the one thing that could make the day even better; and that one thing was a talented musician named Rodney Page.

Dressed in a tuxedo under a stone gazebo was a man playing a violin during the ceremony. The sounds that came from that instrument were unlike any I had ever heard. I could tell he was passionate about his music by the way he played his instrument. Everything went very well and the ceremony ended. I thought I had seen the last of this classy notemaker until after the family portraits were done when we headed inside for the reception. I walked over to the DJ's table only to see the same man setting up his equipment. I introduced myself and told him I loved his music. The rest of the night, I was blown away by how talented Rodney was. He had just the right songs at just the right volume and had just about every person there on their feet. He also plugged his electric violin in and played some incredible solos over songs you would hear on the radio! At the end of the night, he even performed a beatboxing rap song for the bride and groom. He is definitely the best beatboxer I have ever heard perform. His combination of great beats and a soaring violin line was something unlike anything I had experienced before.
Rodney was born in Tennessee but moved to Southfield, Michigan before the age of one. He began playing the violin at age 10 in the Southfield Public School District. After graduating from High School he attended Michigan State University and pursued a degree in Music Education. After graduating from MSU, he taught 5th and 6th Grade Strings in East Lansing Public Schools and then St. Johns Public Schools. While in St. Johns, he began using his DJ skills to raise money for the music department. He has performed for Sweet 16 parties, weddings, proms and other school dances and was even the DJ for the Detroit Pistons for one season! He is married and has two children named Bryson and Jayden. I hope by viewing some of the photos and videos below, you will share with me an appreciation of Rodney's passion and talent.
